Hello! It’s been 3 months since the Demo released, and I wanted to do an update to where I’m at! So a chunk of the next episode has been written and programmed, and one of the backgrounds drawn! No new sprites, so that’s a relief.

Moving forward, I want to do smaller updates, inspired by slice-of-life shows which may have a 22 minute run time as opposed to be a big long movie. This puts a lot less pressure on me as a solo dev, and means I can update more frequently!

I understand that some people prefer to wait until more of the game is finished/entirely finished, which is completely understandable! There’s no problem with waiting for larger sections of the game to come out for you to play. You can keep track here and on the game page for where the story is at and when you’d like to jump in again! Or, if you like playing in little bites, then you can play as I release each episode!

Also with the smaller episodes, they won’t be able to be completely “equal” in for screen time for all of the characters, but it’s important to me that everyone will get a chance to shine throughout the entire story. For example, episode 2 is going to focus on your adventure with Freli, Whit, and Serendipity, and building bonds with them and their dynamics with each other. These three were chosen because they had the least amount of screentime in the demo, and I made sure that you get a chance to speak with Radia and Jin before you leave—and when you’ll get back, I’m planning a scene with them too! But that will likely not be until episode 3. So fear not! Even if some characters get more love in certain episodes, you won’t be missing out on time with them in general!

Another part with the episode length—is that because of the different choices and branching paths, sometimes they will be a lot shorter on certain playthroughs over others. Going into making this game, it was important to me that you could discover new things on new playthroughs, and I hope to accomplish that!  For example, there’s a section in episode 2 that will be about Serendipity cashing in on their dare to the player if they lost to them, and vice versa!

Right now, I’m going to work on the next half of episode 2, it’s going to be exploring the dungeon! I hope everyone is doing well, and have a wonderful, sunny summer!
